THE FAMILY SHACK - STATE AND NATIONAL WINNER 2012 - STAYZ BEST FAMILY ACCOMMODATION. The Family Shack has to be the best place anywhere for a family getaway, especially for mums and dads who need to jump off the merry-go-round of life for a little while and chill out while their kids entertain themselves. The Family Shack is an ideal retreat for a lovely, restful break away for the whole family (including your beloved pooch!).

The attention to detail that the owners have given to setting up this property as a family getaway (to ensure that both adults and kids alike have a wonderful time!!) is amazing. The owners have 4 kids themselves so have thought of everything that could make a family break as memorable and as enjoyable as possible.

The kids will never want to leave and the parents, well, they can enjoy a quiet beer or a wine in the spa upstairs while the kids explore all that there is to offer in the games room downstairs, in the Sports Shed and in the garden.

The Family Shack is a split level home. On the lower level, there is a fabulous kids retreat/games room which provides plenty of entertainment for the kids (and the grown ups!!) - it is guaranteed to keep the kids occupied during your stay.

In the games room you will find:

- billiard table
- table tennis table
- soccer and air hockey tables
- TV and DVD/video players
- library of books and board games
- plenty of bean bags to relax on

As if that isn’t enough, the property also offers “The Sports Shed”. The Sports Shed is crammed with all sorts of outdoor equipment for all ages to enjoy.....

For the littlies, there are:

- buckets and spades
- inflatable water toys
- little fishing rods
- bats and balls

For the teens, there are lots of things for them to use including:

- bikes and scooters (and helmets)
- skateboards
- boogie boards and a skim board
- frisbees
- volleyball/badminton set
- totem tennis set
- cricket bats and balls for the beach
- various other sports equipment

And not forgetting the adults, they can make good use of the:

- various sports equipment, bats and balls etc
- bikes (and helmets)
- beach chairs
- picnic baskets

In the rear garden, you will find a trampoline and a basketball ring for the family to enjoy. There is also a little artificial putting mat (with a putter and some golf balls) in the rear sunroom for the family to take part in some friendly putting competitions.

For mums and dads with very young children, the sunroom at the front of The Family Shack contains an array of baby/toddler goods for them to avail themselves of including:

- 2 portacots
- 2 highchairs
- pram
- rocker
- bathring
- baby baths
- step up stool for the washbasin
- abundance of toys, blocks, etc to keep the littlies entertained

The Family Shack is looked after lovingly and has everything for the adult guests too, to make their stay a lovely, memorable experience. The best part of this home from a family perspective is that it is a 1970's home and is not so precious that parents can't relax without having to tiptoe around precious furniture and decor. It is a typical family home - it is functional, clean and well equipped.

Upstairs in the in the main house, there are 3 bedrooms, 2 with QS beds and one with 2 sets of bunks and 2 trundles.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod cons that you could ask for including:

- microwave
- dishwasher
- sandwich press
- plasticware/cutlery for the kids
- gladwrap/foil/paper towel/baking paper
- loads of bowls, pots’n pans, cutlery, crockery, utensils etc
- dishwashing detergent, dishwasher blocks, chux, scourers, flyspray, spray’n wipe, tea towels and ice bricks

These are just a few of the things that are also provided to ensure that you don't have to pack up the entire kitchen sink before you come. You will not need to bring much with you at all – just pack up your bags, rock up and enjoy.

Guests are also provided with all the things needed to help them settle in to The Family Shack including:

- selection of teas, coffee, sugar/equal, milk
- condiments such as oil and vinegar, tomato sauce, salt and pepper
- toiletries (soap, shampoo conditioner, bubble bath, toilet paper) etc……

....all the important things to help get you started on your lovely holiday.

Next to the kitchen is a dining room with a table that comfortably seats 10 but can fit 12. There is also some additional seating at the kitchen bench for another 3 guests. The dining area leads into the lounge area which has plenty of seating (including some bean bags) for guests to enjoy. The boys will love the large flat screen TV (and the remote of course!!), the DVD and VCR and the extensive library of DVDs and videos.

The large bathroom contains a corner spa bath with a separate shower and there are 2 toilets at The Family Shack, one in the bathroom and one in the rear sunroom.

The Family Shack also has a bungalow in the rear garden (close to the house) which guests can use as additional accommodation or as a retreat for the kids (or the parents!!) to enjoy.

The bungalow contains:

- 2 sets of bunks
- 1 SB trundle
- 1 QS sofa bed
- cosy sitting area with a coffee table
- fridge
- TV, DVD player
- coffee and tea making facilities

At the rear of The Family Shack, there is a paved outdoor entertaining area complete with a good size timber table and chairs, a 4 burner BBQ and a market umbrella for those sunny days. The BBQ area overlooks the garden so the parents can watch their kids playing on the tramp or shooting some hoops while they enjoy a quiet drink together!!

Finally, as parents, we know that you don’t want to have to bring oodles of bedding/linen with you when you come so the following is provided:

- mattress protectors
- doonas and doona covers
- pillows and pillow cases
- tea towels
- hand towel
- facewashers
- bathmats.

All you need to bring with you are your sheets and towels (note: sheets and towels can be provided at an additional cost if necessary).

Your beloved pooch hasn't been forgotten either. The garden is fully fenced so your four-legged friend is safe to explore the garden and perhaps bury a bone!! A medium-sized kennel can be found in the garden. Your pooch is also welcome to enjoy the enclosed sunroom which contains two dog beds (one a soft fabric bed and the other a sling bed). Dog bowls, poo bags and a pooper scooper are also provided. And if you have a two-legged, feathered friend who you would like to join you on your holiday, then we even have a nice, big bird cage too which is large enough to accommodate budgies, canaries or a cockatiel (but perhaps not a pelican!).

The Family Shack is situated in Rye in a lovely, quiet, leafy street which leads directly to the beach (walking distance - approx. 900m - to the popular Tyrone foreshore between Rye and Blairgowrie – one of the most sought after beaches on the Peninsula.

There is ample off street parking at the Family Shack for cars, boat, jetski etc.

This is the ideal place for a family getaway. End of school celebrations, parties and functions not permitted. Nightly rates are based on 6 guests staying. Additional costs apply for extra persons.

But don't be shy asking whether a special deal can be done for you - flexibility with pricing can be offered at times, especially during off peak periods and for longer stays.
