Roger and Hannah Stuart-Andrews are a professional couple whose sea-change is reflected in our retiring from a lifetime of living in the bush outside Eltham to a new home in Red Hill. We have chosen Seachange Wines as the name of our new enterprise based on this historic property which is set to become a vibrant player in the wine-scene on the Peninsula. The 25 acres is set in a natural north-facing amphitheatre with a planting of eight acres of grapes. These will be offered the triple advantages of the second highest rainfall on the Peninsula, the fantastic red soil which makes our area so famous and the ideal exposure to the sun of north-south planting. Our varieties are Barbera, Arneis, Albarino and Pinot Grigio and the wine maker is Sandro Mosele of Tuerong Winery. Our Barbera went straight to a gold medal at the Alternative Varieties Wine Show in Mildura in 2005 and was one of the feature wines the following year on Stefano de Pieri s Riverboat restaurant as featured in the TV series "Gondola on the Murray". Currently we are selling our very popular Tempranillo 2005 until the stocks are exhausted as the vines were removed to make way for the vines carrying the 'great new white' circling the wine scene of Australia - Albarino - we eagerly anticipate our first vintage in 2009. We have developed a wetland reserve with board-walks and paths meandering through native bush and along the banks of Dunns Creek. We have orchards, both fruit and citrus, and a large vegetable garden. The property offers the choice of staying in the luxurious B&B on the site called Limetree Hideaway, a serene and secluded base for couples to explore this wonderful region of Victoria. A bottle of sparkling wine is our gift to our guests plus a discount on cellar door prices for our award-winning wines. Access to our vegetable garden and orchard is also offered to our guests to maximise their culinary experience as they cook in the fully equipped kitchen of the Hideaway. We also allow a walk to incorporate neighbouring Ellisfield Farm with its famous cherries in season and their delicious home-made products plus their alpacas, ducks and long-eared goats. There are no fences between our properties so larger groups can book both cottages for a joint stay. Come and meet 'Freda' our 1926 Morris Commercial who chugs around the beautiful rural lanes of the peninsula making deliveries of wine and fruit from the estate. She has a wine barrel on the back and is fully restored in polished timber - a Rosewood frame; Spotted Gum panels; Silky Oak running boards and rear mud-guards; Meranti side to tray and drop sides; Tasmanian Oak tray. | |
